Atlas Copco Provides Compressed Air Solutions for Oman Cement Company
OCC adopts Atlas Copco compressed air solutions, utilizing 16 GA 160 oil-injected screw compressors, two ZA 6 single-stage oil-free screw compressors, and one ZS 30 screw blower to support production.
August 2014, Wilrijk, Belgium – Oman Cement Company SAOG (OCC), the largest cement manufacturer in Oman and one of the most advanced producers in the Middle East, relies heavily on compressed air. Like most cement plants, OCC requires compressed air for its plant operations, instrument air, pneumatic conveying systems, and silo aeration. Today, OCC adopts Atlas Copco compressed air solutions, utilizing 16 GA 160 oil-injected screw compressors, two ZA 6 single-stage oil-free screw compressors, and one ZS 30 screw blower to support production.

A Pioneer in Self-Sufficiency
Since 1983, Oman Cement Company has been a symbol of self-reliance in Oman’s core industries. By aligning with the country’s national development efforts, OCC has significantly contributed to building infrastructure and ensuring resource independence for the construction sector. The company’s manufacturing facilities are ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, and its products meet strict international quality and performance standards, reflecting its commitment to maximum customer satisfaction.
High-Performance Equipment in Harsh Conditions
Across its facilities, OCC has installed 16 Atlas Copco GA 160 oil-injected screw compressors, several of which are equipped with Variable Speed Drive (VSD). The GA series features Atlas Copco’s latest generation air end with innovative asymmetric rotor profiles, a robust drive system, and heavy-duty intake filters. All components are carefully selected to ensure reliable performance, even under extreme conditions with ambient temperatures as high as 55°C (131°F).
The GA VSD units automatically adjust air output according to demand, reducing the plant’s average energy costs by 35%. In the tough and dusty cement plant environment, the Atlas Copco ZA 6 single-stage oil-free compressor with built-in VSD ensures a dependable supply of oil-free compressed air at the lowest possible energy cost. With stainless steel coolers, AGMA A4/DIN 5 gears, and top-class electrical systems, the ZA 6 delivers both durability and efficiency.
Cutting Energy Costs by 30%
OCC uses the Atlas Copco ZS 30 oil-free screw blower for silo aeration. Based on proven screw blower technology, the ZS achieves an average energy savings of 30% compared with traditional lobe blowers.
According to OCC Maintenance Manager Mr. Ziad Al Siyabi, dust is one of the plant’s biggest challenges, especially for air-cooled compressors. To solve this, OCC built a dedicated compressor room fitted with double filter panels. This solution improved reliability while reducing both maintenance and energy costs.
Meeting High Customer Expectations
Mr. Al Siyabi explained:
“To deliver on our quality promise, we need partners that can provide top-quality products and 24/7 service support. Over the years, Atlas Copco has consistently met this requirement through its wide range of compressed air solutions and excellent service delivered by its distributor, Bin Salim Enterprises. That’s why, whenever we need compressed air solutions, Atlas Copco is our natural choice.”
Atlas Copco Oman Regional Manager Mr. Tony Van Herbruggen added:
“Considering our achievements with OCC, the Oil-Free Air division of Atlas Copco is confident in delivering reliable, energy-efficient, and innovative solutions that not only meet but exceed OCC’s expectations.”
